필리핀 유명 프랜차이즈 매장에서 치킨을 주문했던 소비자가 거대한 '이물질'을 발견했습니다.

현지 시간으로 2일 미국 뉴욕포스트 등 외신들에 따르면 필리핀 타기그에 사는 엘리크 페레스 씨는 최근 치킨을 시켰다가 큰 충격을 받았습니다.

한창 식사를 하던 페레즈 씨는 치킨 조각들 사이에서 유난히 묵직하고 커다란 덩어리를 발견했습니다. 그런데 아이들이 편하게 먹을 수 있도록 작게 썰려고 해도 썰리지 않았습니다.

 

이상함을 느낀 페레스 씨는 직접 손으로 튀김옷을 벗겨내면서 문제의 원인을 알게 됐습니다. 잘 익은 속살이 아니라 단단하게 뭉친 행주가 모습을 드러낸 겁니다.

페레스 씨는 '행주 튀김' 영상을 SNS에 공유하면서 "배달 음식에 이물질이 들었다고 문제를 제기하는 사람들을 많이 봤지만 사실 속으로는 '그럴 리가 없다'고 생각했다. 그런데 그 일이 실제로 나에게 벌어졌다"며 황당해했습니다.

이어 "어떻게 행주를 반죽에 담그고 기름에 튀길 때까지 아무도 몰랐을 수 있나. 같은 기름에 얼마나 많은 치킨을 튀겼을지 생각하면 속이 안 좋아진다"라며 분통을 터뜨렸습니다.

 

페레스 씨가 게시한 영상이 온라인상에서 10만 회 가까이 공유되며 공분을 불러일으키자, 치킨 프랜차이즈 측은 공식 사과문을 발표했습니다.

본사 측은 "문제가 발생한 매장에 대해 철저히 조사했고, 우리 프랜차이즈가 추구하는 식품 관리 체계와 동떨어진 모습에 유감스러웠다"며 "당분간 해당 매장을 폐쇄하고 다시는 같은 문제가 벌어지지 않도록 재교육하겠다"고 밝혔습니다.

누리꾼들은 "이건 소송감이다", "다시는 예전처럼 치킨을 먹을 수 없을 것 같다", "즐겨 먹던 곳인데 안타깝다. 다시는 이런 문제가 없기를 바란다"는 등의 반응을 보였습니다.

 

Philippines: Although hard to believe, in bizarre incident women who ordered juicy fried chicken for her son from a popular food joint in the Philippines was shocked to receive a deep-fried towel instead.

The woman, Alique Perez shared some videos and a picture of the ‘wrong order’ on her Facebook page. It has now gone viral on social media due to its bizarre nature.

“Ordered chicken for my son, while I was trying to get him a bite, I found it super hard to even slice. Tried opening it up with my hands and to my surprise a deep-fried towel. This is really disturbing…. How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it!?” Perez wrote in the caption of the shared Facebook post.

The food company Jollibee Food Corp took the incident to notice and claimed that it has ordered a three-day shutdown of the Bonifacio-Stop Over outlet, reports of CNN Philippines.

The post has over one lakh reactions and was shared more than 87,000 times. People were also quite shocked to know that a deep-fried tower was delivered as fried chicken. Some users have questions about the incident while others simply found it hilarious.

“Eww! That is disgusting.” a Facebook user comments to the women post. While another user wrote, “I will think twice before ordering from this outlet.”
